What’s Your Number?
When we are first introduced to the heroine of this film, Ally (Anna Faris), she is young, in need of a boyfriend and much to her distress has just been dismissed from her marketing job. At this time while perusing Marie Claire magazine, she discovers that the twenty people she has had sex with is double the national average and this article is giving their readers the advice that a girls chance of getting married falls, “the higher a woman’s number is”. After describing herself as a jobless whore that has slept with twenty men we find Ally not wanting to add to the notches on her bed post thereby landing herself on the shelf of allegedly promiscuous women. Further coupled with her being attentive to the wonder whereby men who were deemed dorks by their peers, throughout their teenage years, bloom into respectable, presentable and desirable thirty something’s, Ally decides to hunt down each and every one of her past boyfriends to establish if just one of them might still be single and her desired ideal husband material. However, behind closed doors, is Ally really in love with her infuriating, womanizing yet handsome and sexy unemployed next door neighbor? (Chris Evans). In many cases romantic comedies tend to lend themselves to being all about the romance without the comedy however, there is amusement and laughter here in the individual pieces featuring Ally’s dreadful yet wonderful to watch ex boyfriends.
