Margaret

Anna Paquin plays the lead role in the movie Margaret. She plays a character called Lisa Cohen, a 17-year old student from a New York City private high-school. Lisa uses the power of female manipulation to keep a suitor at bay and to seduce her teacher Aaron. In school, she cheated on an exam and Aaron, played by Matt Damon, who knew about this admonishes her. Her character changes when she witnesses an accident that caused a woman’s death. She feels certain the she played a role in the accident because she was partially distracting the driver when it happened. She lied to the police and did not tell them about it. Guilt-stricken, Lisa tries to set things right. She decided to reach out to the victim’s best friend and to the bus driver. In her effort to make amends, she meets opposition every step of the way. Lisa loses her virginity to Paul, a cocksure bad boy. She becomes abusive to the people around her as she tries to deal with her feelings. She engages in heated political debates in class. She finds herself at logger heads with her mother Joan most of the time. She has heart wrenching conversations with her father. All in all life becomes real disaster for her. Lisa eventually succeeds in seducing her teacher with some consequences. Anna Paquin’s performance in this movie is fantastic and superb. It’s a must see for movie goers who love watching drama.
