50/50

This movie is centred on a character in his mid twenties, who is not married and is working for a radio station. Out of the blue he is told that he has spinal cancer. This throws the poor man into turmoil and he starts to ask the question why me? I lead a healthy life; I do not smoke or drink etc. Whilst trying to digest the information he has just received he turns to his best friend for comfort. His friend turns out to be a rock and helps our leading man deal with the fact that he has cancer; he helps him get over his girlfriend, is always there to take him to the clinic and even joins in when the main character decides that smoking marijuana will help with the pain. Our leading man’s mother also decides that it would be appropriate for her to move in and help with dealing with this terrible news, however, she has her own worries with a husband who is suffering from Alzheimer’s. The acting you can expect with this movie is really top notch. This movie is not for everyone, there are a few raunchy scenes and the language can be colorful also. It does not pussy foot around the subject of cancer but instead develops the characters with realistic humor. If you are able to face the subject matter in this movie with an open mind it is definitely worth you seeing it.
